Phil fades to 77 after promising start Friday
Phil Mickelson got off to the start he wanted Friday at the 107th U.S. Open, charging out with birdies on two of his first six holes. But Lefty fell apart soon thereafter, going a disappointing 9 over on his next 12 for a 7-over 77 to fall to 11 over for the tournament and in serious danger of missing the cut.
The first-round leaders at the U.S. Open all have afternoon tee times, so will any of the early risers make a run at Nick Dougherty and Angel Cabrera? One player everyone will have their eyes on is Phil Mickelson, who is on the course.
