The Amateurs

Richie Ramsay, U.S. Amateur Champion
Ramsey, 23, earned a spot in the 2007 Masters by easily defeating American John Kelly 4 and 2 in the U.S. Amateur Championship at Hazeltine National last August. Ramsey, a native of Aberdeen, Scotland, is expected to retain his amateur status throughout 2007. Ramsay, who was the first Brit to win the U.S. Amateur since 1911, was briefly ranked by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club as the top amateur in the world in January.

Dave Womack, U.S. Mid-Amateur Champion
Womack, a 27-year-old insurance salesman from the Atlanta suburb of McDonough, qualified for The Masters via his gritty 1-up win in the 2006 U.S. Mid-Amateur championship in Flagstaff, Ariz. Womack holed a 5-foot par putt on the 36th hole at Forest Highlands Golf Club to defeat fellow Georgian Ryan Hybl. The victory culminated a lifelong dream for Womack; his maternal grandfather, L.P. McKibben, played several casual rounds at Augusta National.

Julien Guerrier, British Amateur Champion
Guerrier became the first Frenchman to win the British Amateur Championship since 1981 when he defeated England's Adam Gee 4 and 3 at Royal St George's. The win earned Guerrier an immediate spot in the 2006 British Open at Royal Liverpool. Guerrier played well at Hoylake, shooting 72-75 to miss the cut by just three strokes.

John Kelly, U.S. Amateur Runner-up
Kelly, a senior at the University of Missouri, earned a spot in The Masters via his finals appearance on the U.S. Amateur Championship, where he fell to Scotsman Richie Ramsay. Kelly has been a key member of the Tigersí Big 12 team for all of his three seasons at Missouri, with his collegiate highlight coming last September when he tied for first in the Missouri Intercollegiate tournament.

Casey Watabu, U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship champion
Casey Watabu, 22, capped a tremendous amateur season in 2006 with a 4-and-3 win over Oklahoma Stateís Anthony Kim in the U.S. Amateur Public Links. Watabu won the U.S. Amateur Public Links after a brilliant senior season at the University of Nevada, where he led the Wolf Pack to an NCAA Championships appearance for the first time in nearly 20 years.
